PER 275 Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response
Course Description:
The Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response (LASER) course uses a mixture of
classroom presentations, hands-on field training, and practical exercises to enhance the
response capabilities of law enforcement officers and armed security in order to effectively respond to and stop an active shooter incident.
This course covers planning, communications, on-site incident management, responder safety and health as well as emergency public safety and security response capabilities.

Required Prerequisites
Participants must be US citizens
Recommended Prerequisites
Incident Command System (ICS) courses 100, 200, and 700
Course Target Audience:
The target audience for this course includes state and local law enforcement and support
personnel, range instructors, firearms instructors, school resource officers, armed security and first-line supervisors who will respond or support the response to any type of active shooter incident. This audience includes individuals who are directly involved in active shooter response.
Additional Information:
1) Meals and travel on your own
2) All participants are required to wear the agency-issued or approved utility or fatigue-type uniforms. Officer-issued weapons, both primary and secondary, are not required for this course. Officers are responsible for securing their weapons properly during the training. Officers should not have personal or agency weapons (including impact and less-than-lethal weapons), live ammunition, weapon magazines, or flash bangs on them or in the training area (including classroom) at any time during this course.
