CERT (Community Emergency Response Team Training)
Course Description:
CERT Basic Training is designed to prepare you to help yourself and to help others in the event of a catastrophic disaster. This training covers basic skills to respond to a community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster, when emergency services are not immediately available. Topics include fire safety, disaster medical operations, search and rescue operations, disaster psychology and terrorism.

This is day #1 of four training sessions (all dates are 1/21/17, 1/28/17, 2/04/17, and 2/11/17). All four sessions must be attended to pass the course and to be eligible to join the Des Moines County CERTeam. A training certificate will be issued for sessions attended. Registration is required by Friday, January 13, 2017. Registrants will receive a confirmation email with details on course upon on-line registration. Day #1 training topics include Disaster Preparedness and Fire Safety. There is no cost for the course and all training materials are provided. You must be 14 or older (if under 18 parental consent is required). There is no obligation to join the Des Moines County CERTeam (or any other CERTeam or volunteer organization).
