Course Name:
E 0110 National Emergency Management Basic Academy Train-the-Trainer
Course Description:
The Basic Academy Train-the-Trainer (E0110) will consist of two (2) days of discussions about course objectives, how to set up and facilitate the class, time management, and other general topics. The last three (3) days will consist of student teach backs that summarize portions of the Basic Academy course subject matter and describe activities and exercises with time for critique and questions. All topics areas in the Basic Academy courses are covered in the Train-the-Trainer and covers all fundamental systems, concepts, and practices of cutting-edge emergency management. The Academy provides shared classrooms of adult learners and skillful instructors resulting in a solid foundation upon which to build further studies and sound decisions. The Basic Academy consists of the following classroom courses:
E/L0101, Foundations of Emergency Management
E/L0102, Science of Disaster
E/L0103, Planning: Emergency
E/L0104, Exercise Design
E/L0105, Public Information and Warning
Course Prerequisites:
Participants of the course have to meet the following selection requirements:
- Five (5) years of experience in Emergency Management
- Three (3) years of classroom training experience
Mandatory prerequisites to taking the E0110 Basic Academy Train-the-Trainer:
• IS-42: Social Media in Emergency Management
• IS-100 (any version): Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS)
• IS-230.b: Fundamentals of Emergency Management
• IS-700 (any version): National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction
• IS-800.b: National Response Framework, An Introduction
• IS-2900: National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF) Overview
Course Target Audience:
This course is intended for appointed emergency managers from State, local, territorial, tribal, Federal emergency management agencies, and prospective professionals transferring from another discipline to emergency management.
