Community Rating System (CRS) Workshop
Course Description:
This is an interactive experience for communities ready to explore or strengthen their participation in FEMA’s Community Rating System (CRS). Participants will complete a mock CRS Class 9 application. Through guided activities, attendees will identify CRS activities most applicable to their jurisdictions & assemble documentation to support a 5 % NFIP premium discount. CRS Activities: • Activity 310 – Elevation Certificates • Activity 330 – Outreach Projects • Activity 340 – Hazard Disclosure • Activity 430 – Higher Regulatory Standards • Activity 440 – Additional Map Data • Activity 450 – Stormwater Management • Activity 501 – Repetitive Loss • Activity 510 – Floodplain Management Planning • Activity 630 – Dam Safety
Course Prerequisites:
None, although attendees should be familiar with NFIP.
Course Target Audience:
Floodplain administrators, building officials, emergency managers, planners, and community staff supporting local floodplain management interested in the CRS program or needing additional guidance in support of a CRS application.
