Floodplain Management & Flood Mitigation Training
Course Description:
Hosted in conjunction with the Iowa DNR, HSEMD, USACE and FEMA, the free training will include: Floodplain 101 - Basics and resources: What to Know and What to Do; How to develop projects to reduce and mitigate flooding; Different types of flood mitigation, including nature-based solutions and acquisition of flooded properties; Potential funding for mitigation options. The training is organized with an informal structure that encourages questions, problem-solving, and answers.

floodplain managers, city and county administrators, elected officials, emergency managers, public works
Additional Information:
1) Enter through the west side of the building (entrance on 11th Street). 2) Park on the street west of the building (11th Street if you can, though you may need to park further away). Handicap entrance door is on north side of building with minimal parking. 3) All travel and meals are on your own, adequate time will be provided.
