AWR 409 Recognizing and Identifying Domestic and Homegrown Violent Extremism
Course Description:
This course introduces participants to the differences between domestic violent extremism and homegrown violent extremism, indicators of violent extremist behavior, characteristics of recruitment and radicalization, and the legal safeguards that protect civil rights, civil liberties, and privacy. Additionally, the course covers social media as it relates to extremism, ways to improve responder safety, and techniques to counter violent extremist threats through interagency and community partnerships
Course Prerequisites:

Course Target Audience:
state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement officers, including front line officers, analysts, correctional officers, campus police, including school resource officers, higher education officers, and school district officers; other first responders including fire services and emergency medical services, particularly those assigned to a fusion center, joint terrorism task force, threat assessment center, or as terrorism liaison officers; and private security personnel
