Course Name:
CERT Train the Trainer
Course Description:
This course prepares participants to be CERT a skilled instructor for the CERT Basic Training Course correctly, explaining the messages and intent of the CERT Program (e.g., safety, teamwork, and place in overall community emergency operations plan).
By the end of this course, the participants should be able to:
* Demonstrate knowledge of the CERT Basic Training Course and the ability to present a portion of the CERT Basic Training Course (teach-back).
*Demonstrate classroom management techniques and the ability to reach all learners.
* Demonstrate effective teaching techniques: setting the environment, maximizing learning retention, conveying information, and assessing student progress. Model appropriate behavior as an instructor.
Course Prerequisites:
Referral from a CERT sponsoring agency
The CERT sponsoring agency could be a local, regional, or state government agency.
A CERT Basic Training course (Note: the FEMA independent study course IS-317 Introduction to CERT is NOT an acceptable substitute.)
IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System
IS-200 ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
IS-700 An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
IS-315 CERT and the Incident Command System
IS-317 Introduction to CERT
Course Target Audience:
People who will serve as an Lead Instructor for the CERT Basic Training course.
People who will be CERT Basic Training course instructors in any capacity.

Must be submitted no later than one week before first session
1) This class is a total of nine sessions (weeks) long, first on-line session is Wednesday, February 14, 6:30-8:30 pm via ZOOM
First eight sessions on-line via Zoom
2) The next seven sessions will be held on Wednesday afternoons, at the same time.
3) The final in-person session is Friday, April 12, 9:30 am-2:30 pm in Marshalltown.
