G 205 Recovery from Disaster: The Local Government Role
Course Description:
This course is designed for local disaster recovery teams consisting of emergency managers, city/county administrators, public works directors, building inspectors, and community planners. The course focuses on the roles and responsibilities of each team member, and provides guidance on developing a local disaster recovery plan. Participants are given the opportunity to develop an outline of their own recovery plan during the course. • Increase local government and community awareness of issues involved in disaster recovery
• Build local recovery capability to address guidance expressed in the National Disaster Recovery Framework during local disaster recovery
• Provide a forum for discussion of “lessons learned” and best practices in disaster recovery at the local level
• Promote the development of a pre-disaster recovery planning process

IS 100.b Introduction to the Incident Command System,
IS 2900 National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF) Overview
Course Target Audience:
Local government, emergency managers, building officials, community planners, city or county administrators, and public works directors, state disaster recovery personnel, floodplain manger/staff
Additional Information:
1) Parking on the street west of the building on 11th Avenue and in the parking lot on the south side of the building.
2) Meals are on your own
3) This multi-day course is supported with Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) funding. You may request lodging reimbursement if you traveled an excess of 50 miles one way and an Iowa resident.
Prior to start of class, email your lodging reimbursement request to HSEMDTraining@iowa.gov
Lodging reimbursement is limited to the first 10 registrants who respond prior to start of class.
Maximum lodging reimbursement will be State of Iowa rate of $80 + taxes = $89.60/night.
TAKE NOTE: lodging restrictions beginning January 1, 2022 for those requesting reimbursement.
4) Travel will be on your own if the above doesn't apply or requested.
