L 0273 Managing Floodplain Development through the NFIP
Course Description:
This course is designed to provide an organized training opportunity for local officials responsible for administering their local floodplain management ordinance. It will focus on the NFIP and concepts of floodplain management, maps and studies, ordinance administration, and the relationship between floodplain management and flood insurance. Designed to provide new floodplain administrators with the information and communication techniques to explain the impact of floodplain management decisions on insurance, public safety, and health. The course includes an overview of the natural conditions that form floodplains, the history of floodplain management, and the creation of the NFIP. Prefacing the use of FISs and maps to determine the flood hazard risk is an explanation of the forces of water and types of floods. Course Description:
This 3-day course will examine the role, design, and function of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and their supportive relationship as a NIMS Command and Coordination component a Multi-Agency Coordination System. Provide training about staffing, organization, information, systems, communications, and equipment needs at the EOC, such activating and deactivating, operations, as well as training and exercising. Focus on the role of an EOC as one of four NIMS Command and Coordination Structures.

Course Description:
The Emergency Management Program Development course provides a comprehensive overview of the statutory requirements and professional duties of today’s emergency manager. Developed and delivered by practitioners in four separate 6 hour sessions, the course is an opportunity for peer to peer learning through lecture as well as task-oriented coaching. DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation
Course Description:
This 8-hr., awareness-level, instructor-led course provides hazmat employees at small or mid-sized companies with critical hazardous materials training information on loading, unloading, or preparing HazMat for transportation. Topics covered will help to reduce the risk of accidents, spills and exposure, while also promoting the safe handling, packaging, labeling, and transportation practices of hazardous materials, per the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR). Specifically, this course focuses on the unique transportation requirements for carriage by highway and rail. This course meets the requirements for Initial and 3-year Refresher DOT HMR training (49 CFR Part 172 Subpart H).
