L 0101 Foundations of Emergency Management
Course Description:
This training is one of the five courses covered under the FEMA Basic Academy program and recommended to be taken first, but not required.
The following will be covered in this course: legal issues; intergovernmental and interagency context; influencing, organizing, social vulnerability issues; managing stress; collaboration, preparedness; team building; mitigation; response; prevention and protection; ethical decision-making; recovery; technology; administration; and the future.

Course Target Audience:
This course is intended for newly appointed emergency managers from State, local, tribal, territorial, and Federal emergency management agencies, and prospective professionals transferring from another discipline to emergency management. College or university emergency management staff/students, private sector emergency management staff, or anyone looking completing this Basic Academy program.
Additional Information:
1) This is a 2-week course offered in two 5-day sessions each.
Week 1: May 21-15, 2018, Week 2: June 25-29, 2018.
By registering for this course you are committed to attend Session 2 without having to resister again.
2) Complete the FEMA Form 119-25-1 (http://training.fema.gov/Apply/). Submit completed application and supporting prerequisites via email to Beth.lewis@iowa.gov
3) Individuals applying for EMI classes will be required to register using the FEMA Student Identification
